Diagpragmatic Hernia with Developed 1 Year after a Chest Stab Wound

Abstract

Diaphragmatic hernia is an uncommon disease that has to be repaired with emergency operation. But late presentation of a hernia with a long latent period after the initial injury is often missed to diagnose promptly. A delay in diagnosis
contributes to
high morbidity and mortality. The authors recently experienced a diaphragmatic hernia that developed 1 year after an initial small stab wound of the chest. The initial injury will probably increase with the increasing tendency of non-operative
management of trauma patients. The authors report this case with the brief review of how to make the diagnosis and how to manage such patients.
